QazTrade and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) have signed a memorandum of cooperation, opening the way for Kazakh companies to access Southeast Asian markets.
On October 9, QazTrade Managing Director Berik Akhmetov met with HKTDC Regional Director Chris Lo and Director for Central Asia and Mongolia Akerkin Yeraliyeva.

Berik Akhmetov noted that Hong Kong’s advanced infrastructure and HKTDC’s global network provide unique opportunities for Kazakhstani products to enter international markets.
“QazTrade is interested in participating in international exhibitions in Hong Kong to promote Kazakh exports. We see great potential for cooperation with Hong Kong, especially for our food producers,” Akhmetov emphasized.

The signed memorandum provides for joint participation in international exhibitions, the use of HKTDC infrastructure in 50 countries, and the exchange of analytics on promising product categories. This creates a new platform for Kazakh producers seeking to strengthen their presence in the Asian market and expand into new trade directions.
HKTDC Regional Director Chris Lo expressed readiness to assist Kazakh companies in finding partners and investors, as well as in promoting the Made in Kazakhstan brand.
“We are pleased to see Kazakhstan as an active participant in Asian trade and are ready to provide our full infrastructure to support Kazakh exporters,” he said.

The signing of the memorandum marked an important step in the development of economic relations between Kazakhstan and Hong Kong. In the near future, the parties will develop an action plan to promote Kazakh products in the region.
