Pakistani mango enters the Kazakh market

At the office of the QazTrade Trade Policy Development Center, a meeting was held with a representative of the Embassy of Pakistan in Almaty, dedicated to the prospects of supplying Pakistani mangoes to Kazakhstan and the development of bilateral trade.

The meeting discussed cooperation with MG Agri Foods, one of the exporters of Pakistani mangoes. The main varieties are Chaunsa, Sindhri, Langra, and Anwar Ratol, which are distinguished by minimal chemical treatment and are considered premium.

According to QazTrade, mango imports to Kazakhstan are growing. In 2022, 922 thousand kg ($1.59 million) were imported, while in 2024 the volume reached 5.86 million kg ($6.48 million). The main supplier is China, while the fruit also comes from Vietnam, Russia, Brazil, Peru, and Pakistan. Mango remains a niche product, mainly in demand in large cities.

The Pakistani side noted that the production cost of one kilogram of mango is less than 100 tenge, while the retail price in Kazakhstan may reach about 1,000 tenge per kilogram. Moreover, the fruit is grown with minimal use of chemicals, which increases its competitiveness in terms of quality.

Pakistani mangoes can be used as raw material for the production of juices, purees, jams, and desserts. In Kazakhstan, there are already enterprises working with mango puree, producing sorbet ice cream, exotic-flavored ice cream, and mango-based desserts. It is expected that processed mango products could be exported to CIS countries, including Russia, Belarus, and Central Asia.

Representatives of QazTrade and the Embassy noted that developing cooperation with Pakistani exporters will expand the range of fruits on the market and strengthen trade ties between the two countries.
