The Global E-Commerce Market Is Valued at $6.3 Trillion
Today, during a briefing at the Central Communications Service, CEO of the Center for Trade Policy Development QazTrade Aitmukhamed Aldazharov presented strategic initiatives to expand the presence of Kazakhstani companies on leading international e-commerce platforms.
In particular, QazTrade plans to boost the participation of local producers on platforms such as JD.com, Alibaba.com, Europages, Noon, and TikTok Shop. This will allow Kazakhstani companies to enter new markets and increase export revenue.
According to QazTrade, the number of online shoppers in 2024 reached 2.71 billion people, and the global e-commerce market is valued at $6.3 trillion USD, which is an 8.76% increase compared to 2023. In Kazakhstan, the volume of e-commerce in retail amounted to 3.2 trillion tenge, or 14.5% of total trade turnover.
Furthermore, by 2029, the number of online shoppers worldwide is projected to grow to 3.6 billion, with a penetration rate of 49.1% and an average revenue per user of $1,728 USD. China is expected to maintain the largest market share, underscoring the importance of intensified efforts in this direction.
Thus, e-commerce remains a key element of Kazakhstan’s export policy, and QazTrade is actively working to strengthen the positions of domestic companies in the global market.
