Kazakhstan is demonstrating steady growth in the export of agricultural and agro-industrial products.
According to the unified export development operator “QazTrade” under the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, in the first six months of 2025, foreign supplies of agricultural products increased by 38.3%, reaching $3.2 billion.
Overall, the country’s foreign trade turnover during this period amounted to $66.0 billion. Exports reached $36.82 billion, while imports totaled $29.14 billion.
The leading export product remains wheat, with exports reaching $779.8 million. Exports of sunflower oil grew significantly, amounting to $339.6 million. There is also stable demand for animal feed ($244.8 million), wheat flour ($210.2 million), and barley ($177.1 million).
Kazakhstan’s main trading partners in the first half of 2025 were:
European Union countries – 33.6% of total turnover,
China – 22.6%,
Russia – 18.2%,
Turkey – 3.7%,
Uzbekistan – 3.2%.
“The export structure is still dominated by oil and petroleum products (61.3%), as well as metals and metal products (12.6%). However, the share of the agro-industrial sector has increased to 8.2%. These figures confirm that agriculture is becoming one of the drivers of growth and diversification of Kazakhstan’s economy,” said Zhomart Makhambetaliev, Chief Manager of the Tariff and Non-Tariff Measures Group at QazTrade.
