Central Asia Focuses on Quality Standards

An international conference titled “Ensuring Quality in Line with International Standards in Turkmenistan – 2025” was held in Ashgabat. The purpose of the event was to develop quality infrastructure, promote international standards, and strengthen regional economic cooperation.
The plenary session was attended by representatives from Turkmenistan, the United States, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Kazakhstan, and other countries.
Speakers emphasized that unified standards and transparent conformity assessment mechanisms are the foundation of trust, sustainable growth, and trade facilitation among states.

Special attention was given to:

  • mutual recognition of certification results,
  • elimination of technical barriers,
  • digitalization of procedures,
  • alignment of standards with international norms.

“Quality infrastructure must become a pillar of regional integration. We do not simply want to trade more — we want to do it more easily, safely, and efficiently,” emphasized Nurlan Kulbatyrov, First Deputy CEO of QazTrade.

He noted that harmonizing standards and digitalizing procedures would create new value chains and strengthen the economic interconnection of regional countries.

The conference served not only as a platform for discussing standardization and quality issues, but also as a venue for B2B meetings between business representatives and international organizations. These meetings facilitated the establishment of new business connections and reinforced regional cooperation.
