In the period from March 30 to April 5, 2022, a joint mission of experts from the Ministry of Trade and Integration, QazTrade and the International Trade Center (ITC) took place to the commercial seaports of the Mangistau region – Aktau Commercial Seaport, Kuryk Port and Aktau Sea Northern Terminal.
Given the relevance of heightened interest in increasing supplies by sea transport and expanding the potential of ports on the Caspian Sea, a step-by-step documentation of business processes for import and export operations of seaports has begun. For these purposes, detailed steps have been studied, documented, which reflect the actual process of crossing the border by goods arriving or departing by sea.
QazTrade Deputy General Director Nurlan Kulbatyrov noted: “Recently, a similar field mission was organized to checkpoints within the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border. During the visit, information on trade procedures for exports and imports, entered into the national Trade Facilitation Portal currently being developed, was compared with the actual situation at the checkpoints. As a result of the visit, recommendations were made to simplify these procedures, as well as to reduce some of the documents that are currently being discussed with the relevant authorized bodies.”
Within the framework of the mission, an introductory seminar was also organized for exporters of the Mangistau region, representatives of the local executive body and the seaport administration on the development of the National Trade Portal for Trade Facilitation within the framework of the Ready4Trade Central Asia project. This Portal will display information on trade procedures for both import / export and transit of products by road / rail / air / sea transport, as well as in a multimodal way.
Ready4Trade Central Asia aims to support the development of intra-regional and international trade in the five countries of Central Asia. The Ready4Trade project is funded by the European Union and implemented by the International Trade Center. The institutional partner of this project in Kazakhstan is QazTrade.
