Exports from Kazakhstan to Russia in January – August 2020 decreased by 18.6 % and amounted to 3.0 billion US dollars.
The reduction in exports to Russia is justified by a decrease in the supply of such goods as: non-alloyed steel hot flat-rolled articles – by 42% or by 116.6 million US dollars (from 277.9 to 161.3 million US dollars ), iron-and-steel waste and scrap – by 73.8% or by 110.6 million US dollars (from 149.9 to 39.3 million US dollars ), iron ores and concentrates – by 16.8% or 67.4 million US dollars (from 400.3 to 332.9 million US dollars ), raw zinc – by 55.5% or 56.1 million US dollars (from 101.1 to 45.0 million US dollars ), natural gas – by 36.1% or 51 million US dollars (from 141.4 to 90.3 million US dollars ).
At the same time, there is an increase in the supply of such goods as: ores and precious metal concentrates – by 59.8% or by 117.4 million US dollars (from 196.5 to 314.0 million US dollars ), rolling stock components – an increase by 3.4 times or 54.7 million US dollars (from 22.4 to 77.1 million US dollars ), uranium – by 17.9 % or 36.8 million (from 205.1 to 241.9 million US dollars ), zinc ores and concentrates – by 51.4% or 20.2 million US dollars (from 39.3 to 59.6 million US dollars ), non-alloyed steel clad flat-rolled articles – by 9.9% or 14.4 million US dollars (from 145.3 to 159.7 million US dollars ).
The main export goods from Kazakhstan to Russia are: iron ores and concentrates – 332,9 million US dollars (with a share of 11.2%), ores and precious metal concentrates – 314 million US dollars (10.6%), uranium – 241.9 million US dollars (8.2%), copper ores and concentrates – 192.3 million US dollars (6.5%), non-alloyed steel hot flat-rolled articles – 161.3 million US dollars (5.4%), non-alloyed steel clad flat-rolled articles – 159.7 million US dollars (5.4%), hard coal – 120 million US dollars (4%), non-alloyed steel cold flat-rolled articles – 108.8 million US dollars (3.7%), natural gas – 90.3 million US dollar (3%), rolling stock components – 77.1 million US dollars (2,6%). Imports to Kazakhstan from Russia in January – August 2020 decreased by 9% and amounted to 8.1 billion US dollars.
The reduction in imports from Russia is justified by a decrease in the import of such goods as pipes and tubes welded from ferrous metals – by 71.5% or 106.3 million US dollars (from 148.7 to 42.4 million US dollars ), freight railway carriages or tram cars – by 63.7% or 93 million US dollars (from 146.0 to 53.0 million US dollars ), passenger cars – by 22.8% or 57.9 million US dollars (from 253.6 to 195.6 million US dollars ), natural gas – by 20.3 % or 57.5 million US dollars (from 283.3 to 225.8 million US dollars ), seamless ferrous pipes, tubes and profiles – by 32.8% or 46.5 million US dollars (from 141.6 to 95.1 million US dollars ), trucks – by 69.1 % or 43.5 million US dollars (from 63.0 to 19.5 million US dollars ), non-self-propelled railway carriages or tram cars – by 99.8% or by 37.7 million US dollars (from 37,8 to 0.1 million US dollars ).
At the same time, there is an increase in imports of such goods as: gold – by 52.8% or by 69.2 million US dollars. (from 131.2 to 200.4 million US dollars ), car bodies – by 48.5% or 37.8 million US dollars (from 77.9 to 115.7 million US dollars ), wheat – an increase by 5 times or 34 million US dollars (from 8.4 to 42.4 million US dollars ), rapeseed – an increase by 15 times or 29.9 million US dollars (from 2.1 to 32.1 million US dollars ), tobacco and tobacco substitutes, tobacco extracts and essences – by 60.1% or 28.9 million US dollars (from 48.1 to 77.0 million US dollars ).
The main imports to Kazakhstan from Russia are: natural gas – 225,8 million US dollars (with a share of 2.8%), oil products – 205,8 million US dollars (2.5%), gold – 200.4 million (2.5%), passenger cars – 195.6 million US dollars (2.4%), precious metal ores and concentrates – 159.5 million US dollars (2%), tires – 135,1 million US dollars (1.7%), non-alloyed steel semi-finished articles – 131,1 million US dollars (1.6%), coke and semi-coke – 122,6 million US dollars (1.5%).
