Mutual trade between the Republic of Kazakhstan and EAEU countries in January-August 2020

Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the EAEU countries in January-August 2020 amounted to 12.0 billion US dollars  , which is 12.2 % lower than in the same period of the previous year (13.7 billion US dollars ).

Exports from Kazakhstan to the EAEU countries in January – August 2020 decreased by 18.6 % and amounted to 3.3 billion US dollars.

The reduction in exports to the EAEU countries is justified by a decrease in the supply of such goods as: non-alloyed steel hot flat-rolled articles – by 42.1% or by 119.8 million US dollars  (from 284.6 to 164.8 million US dollars ), iron-and-steel waste and scrap – by 73.8% or by 110.6 million US dollars  (from 149.9 to 39.3 million US dollars ), iron ores and concentrates – by 16.8% or 67.4 million US dollars  (from 401.4 to 334.0 million US dollars ), natural gas – by 34% or 61.7 million US dollars  (from 181.4 to 119.7 million US dollars ), raw zinc – by 53.7% or 55.7 million US dollars  (from 103.6 to 48.0 million US dollars ).

At the same time, there is an increase in the supply of such goods as: ores and precious metal concentrates – by 59.8% or by 117,5 million US dollars  (from 196.5 to 314.0 million US dollars ), rolling stock components – an increase by 3.4 times or 54.2 million US dollars  (from 23.0 to 77.2 million US dollars ), uranium – by 17.9 % or 36.8 million  (from 205.1 to 241.9 million US dollars ), zinc ores and concentrates – by 51.4% or 20.2 million US dollars  (from 39.3 to 59.6 million US dollars ), non-alloyed steel clad flat-rolled articles  – by 8.8% or 13.6 million US dollars  (from 154.9 to 168.5 million US dollars ).

The main  goods exported from Kazakhstan to the EAEU countries are: iron ores and concentrates –  334 million US dollars  (with a share of 10%), ores and precious metal concentrates – 314 million US dollars  (9.4%), uranium – 241.9 million US dollars (7.2%), copper ores and concentrates – 192.3 million US dollars  (5.7%), non-alloyed steel clad flat-rolled articles – 168,5 million US dollars  (5%), non-alloyed steel hot flat-rolled articles – 164.8 million US dollars  (4.9%), hard coal – 142 million US dollars  (4.2%), natural gas – 119.7 million US dollar  (3.6%), non-alloyed steel cold flat-rolled articles – 116.7 million US dollars  (3.5%), rolling stock components – 77,2 million US dollars  (2.3%). More detailed information on the main goods exported to the EAEU countries for the period January – August 2020 is shown in Table 1.

Imports to Kazakhstan from the EAEU countries in January – August  2020 decreased by 9.5% and amounted to 8.7 billion US dollars.

The reduction in imports from the EAEU countries  is justified by a decrease in the import of such goods as pipes and tubes welded from ferrous metals – by 71.4% or 106.2 million US dollars  (from 148.8 to 42.6 million US dollars ), freight railway carriages or tram cars – by 62.3 % or 91.6 million US dollars  (from 147.0  to 55.4 million US dollars ), trucks – by 74.1 % or 61.7 million US dollars  (from 83.3 to 21.6 million US dollars ), passenger cars – by 22.8% or 57.9 million US dollars  (from 253.6 to 195.7 million US dollars ), natural gas – by 20.3 % or 57.5 million US dollars  (from 283.3 to 225.8 million US dollars ), seamless ferrous pipes, tubes and profiles – by 31.7% or 45.4 million US dollars  (from 143.1 to 97.7 million US dollars ), tractors and truck trailers – by 49.6% or 42 million US dollars  (from 84.7 to 42.7 million US dollars ).

At the same time, there is an increase in imports of such goods as: gold (including gold with platinum electroplating) raw or semi-finished or in powder form – by 52.8 % or by 69.2 million US dollars  (from 131.2 to 200.4 million US dollars ), sugar – by 60.5% or 41.2 million US dollars  (from 68.1 to 109.3 million US dollars ), car bodies – by 47.8% or 37.7 million US dollars  (from 78.8  to 116.5 million US dollars ), wheat – an increase by 5 times or 34 million US dollars  (from 8.4 to 42.4 million US dollars ), medicines packaged for retail sale – by 52.3% or 30.3 million US dollars  (from 57.8 to 88.1 million US dollars ).

The main import goods to Kazakhstan from the EAEU countries are: ores and precious metal concentrates – 228.9 million US dollars  (with a share of 2.6%), natural gas – 225.8 million US dollars  (2.6%), petroleum products – 207.5 million US dollars  (2.4%), gold (including gold plated with platinum), raw or semi-finished, or in the form of powder – 200.4 million US dollars  (2.3%), passenger cars – 195,7 million US dollars (2.3%), tires – 146 million US dollars  (1.7%), non-alloyed steel semi-finished articles – 131,1 million US dollars  (1.5%) components and accessories for cars and tractors –  131.1 million US dollars  (1.5%).
