Ministry of trade prepares food industry companies to enter the Chinese market

“The government will have to determine strategically important production facilities, key export priorities… for strategic projects, it should provide for a package of in-kind grants, concessional financing, partial guarantees, and export support mechanisms… Increase in export of agricultural products twice…”.
Message Of The President Of The Republic Of Kazakhstan K. K. Tokayev
“KAZAKHSTAN IN A NEW REALITY: TIME FOR ACTION»

The message of the Head of state to the people is always an important event. It defines the country’s strategic development vectors and sets new goals for the Government. In the September Address, serious attention is paid to exports and national producers. As the nearest prospects, export-oriented enterprises are provided with comprehensive support from the state.

As the Minister of trade and integration Bakhyt Sultanov recently wrote on his personal Facebook account: “we in the Ministry of trade noted the main thing in the Message: “Work to attract investment and promote Kazakhstan’s goods and services for export in the new world realities is becoming a priority for the Government.”

“The President, speaking about the disclosure of industrial potential or the agricultural industry, set a mandatory condition-to produce goods with a focus on export…All this is an indicator of the growing role of the “trade assessment” of the country’s economic development. The more processed goods a country can bring to foreign markets, the more successful its industry is, and the richer its citizens live, ” Minister Sultanov said.

The Ministry of trade has identified 16 commodity items (goods and services) for which the country can increase exports by $13.5 billion. In other words, Kazakhstan has the potential to increase non-resource exports by almost 2 times (last year it amounted to $15.7 billion). The bulk of goods are agricultural products: vegetable oils; flour products; pasta; lamb; pork; beef; pesticides; fertilizers; petrochemicals; transformers; batteries.

And with the WTO forecasts for the growth of food shortages in the world, the Republic has every chance to take a stable position as a major exporter of agricultural products. Especially if you evaluate the geographical proximity to the largest sales market.

Given the opportunities that have opened up, in his September Address, President Tokayev focused on the importance of nurturing and supporting entrepreneurs who focus not only on the domestic but also on the foreign market. The head of state instructed to launch an export acceleration program for non-resource producers “to provide targeted support from the idea to the result.”

By this time, the Ministry of trade has already formed a database of domestic producers from more than 500 companies in the food industry. About 100 companies took part in the competition, of which 35 best companies have already started preparing to launch their products on the Chinese market. Each company is accompanied by analytical experts from qaztrade AND international consultants from PWS. They are actively searching for Chinese counter-partners in the framework of private business missions and official trade shows.

Individual online sessions with enterprises are planned until September 18 this year.as a result, strategic plans for entering the Chinese market will be developed for each of them. A special feature of the meetings is an online consultation with Chinese experts on salespitch development.

This year, the format of business missions is held online. Businesses in communication with potential partners will present themselves, their products and salespitch on the Converve online platform, which is represented by the program’s partners – PwC.

In the next stages of acceleration, the Ministry of trade will help businessmen “build up” their power to become competitive in the border markets of Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.

In General, in the coming years, more than 1,000 domestic producers will be supported as part of the export acceleration.
