Kazakhstan’s foreign trade in January-July 2020 amounted to
48.7 billion US dollars  , which is 10.7% lower than in the same period of the previous year (54.6 billion US dollars ).

Exports from Kazakhstan to the world in January – June 2020 decreased by 13.3% and amounted to 28.6 billion US dollars.

The decrease in exports is justified by a decrease in the supply of such goods as: crude oil – by 16.2% or 3061.1 million  (from 18.9 to 15.8 billion US dollars ), natural gas – by 17.1% or 333.7 million US dollars  (from 1 956.5 to 1 622.8 million US dollars ), oil products – by 45.2% or by 324.3 million US dollars  (from 718.0 to 393.6 million US dollars ), ferroalloys – by 16.3% or 189.8 million US dollars  (from 1 164.3 to 974.5 million US dollars ).

At the same time, there is an increase in the supply of such goods as: uranium – by 46.1% or by 298 million US dollars.  (from 646,4 to 944,4 million US dollars ), copper ores and concentrates – by 18.5% or 124.5 million US dollars  (from 673.8 to 798.3 million US dollars US dollars), ores and concentrates of precious metals – by 39.7% or 110.1 million  (from 277.5 to 387.6 million US dollars ), silver – by 41.9 % or 85.3 million US dollars  (from 203.5 to 288.8 million US dollars ), wheat flour – by 30.7% or 55.4 million US dollars  (from 180.6 to 236.0 million US dollars ).

The main export goods from Kazakhstan to the world are: crude oil – 15.8 billion US dollars (with a share of 55.2%), natural gas – 1.6 billion US dollars (5.7%), copper and copper cathodes – 1.5 billion US dollars  (5.3%), ferro-alloys – 974.5 million US dollars  (3.4%), uranium – 944.4 million US dollars (3.3%), copper ores and concentrates – 798.3 million US dollars  (2.8%), wheat – 557.2 million US dollars  (1.9%), petroleum products – 393.6 million US dollars  (1.4%), precious metal ores and concentrates – 387,6 million US dollars  (1.4%), raw zinc by 336.1 million US dollars  (1,2%). More detailed information on the main exported goods for the period January-July 2020 is shown in Table 1.

Imports to Kazakhstan from the world in January – July 2020 decreased by 6.5% and amounted to 20.1 billion US dollars.

The decrease in imports is justified by a decrease in imports of the following goods: parts for electric motors and installations – by 98.5% or by 370.9 million US dollars  (from 376.5 to 5.6 million US dollars ), steam or other steam-producing boilers – by 97.4% or by 284.8 million US dollars  (from 292.5 to 7.7 million US dollars ), natural gas – by 47.3 % or 236.3 million US dollars  (from 499.9 to 263.6 million US dollars ), other goods – by 97.6% or by 191.8 million US dollars  (from 196.5 to 4.7 million US dollars ), ferrous welded pipes and tubes – by 80.1 % or 190.1 million US dollars  (from 237.3 to 47.2 million US dollars ), trucks – by 70.2 % or 157.2 million US dollars  (from 223.8 to 66.6 million US dollars ), liquid pumps – by 38.4% or 147.9 million US dollars  (from 384.6 to 236.7 million US dollars ).

At the same time, there is an increase in imports of the following goods: refrigerators, freezers and refrigeration equipment – an increase by 8 times or by 715.2 million US dollars  (from 102.4 to 817.6 million US dollars ), air or vacuum pumps, compressors and fans – an increase by 2.9 times or by 541.8 million US dollars.  (from 281.7 to 823.5 million US dollars ), ferrous metal containers with a capacity of more than 300 liters – an increase by 18.3 times or by 217.1 million US dollars  (from 12.6 to 229.6 million US dollars ), pipeline fittings – by 68.1 % or by 213.4 million US dollars  (from 313.4 to 526.8 million US dollars ), medicines packaged for retail sale – by 27.4 % or 137.3 million US dollars  (from 500.8 to 638.1 million US dollars ).The main goods imported to Kazakhstan from the world are: air or vacuum pumps, compressors and fans – 823.5 million US dollars (with a share of 4.1%), refrigerators, freezers and refrigerating equipment – 817.6 million US dollars  (4.1%), medicines packaged for retail sale – 638.1 million US dollars  (3.1%), pipeline fittings – 526.8 million US dollars  (2.4%), telephone sets – 457.2 million US dollars  (2.3%), passenger cars – 405.4 million US dollars  (2%), centrifuges, equipment and devices for filtering liquids or gases – by 327.3 million US dollars  (1.6%), seamless pipes, tubes and profiles made of ferrous metals – 309,4 million US dollars  (1.5%).
