Trends in the development of e-commerce were discussed in Geneva

On June 12, the 12th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) started in Geneva, Switzerland, within the framework of which, in addition to meetings and negotiations on WTO agreements and issues, parallel events are held on trade topics organized by both countries and other international organizations.

Today, June 13, 2022 Within the framework of the 12th Ministerial Conference, a meeting on electronic commerce was held, organized by the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the International Trade Center (ITC) on the topic: “Small business, big in e-commerce”. The session, which was attended by the Kazakh delegation, discussed the global trend in the development of e-commerce, existing barriers and solutions.

Within the framework of cooperation with ITC Kazakhstan, the project “Ready4Trade Central Asia” is being implemented. The project is funded by the European Union. JSC TSRTP “QazTrade” is a strategic partner of the program in Kazakhstan.

One of the directions of this multi-component project is to assist entrepreneurs in the development of online trading. Currently, more than 40 Kazakhstani companies have been trained in e-commerce. Of these, 50% are female entrepreneurs. The activities of the companies participating in the training relate to such industries as textiles and clothing production, handicrafts, food. In addition to training, consulting support for entrepreneurs on entering various international platforms was provided.

The delegation of Kazakhstan exchanged views with the Director General of the ITC. During the discussion, Mrs. Pamela Kok-Hamilton noted that she is well acquainted with the Central Asian region. She positively assessed the work within the framework of trade development projects that are being carried out in Kazakhstan.
