QazTrade discussed in Baku the increase in trade turnover with Azerbaijan

On the sidelines of the Kazakh Trade and Economic Mission in the Republic of Azerbaijan, the General Director of QazTrade JSC Azamat Askaruly held a number of meetings with representatives of the state and business circles of Azerbaijan.

During the talks with the Chairman of the Board of the Agency for the Development of Small and Medium Business of the Republic of Azerbaijan Orkhan Mammadov, the parties discussed cooperation in organizing mutual trade missions. The head of the Azerbaijani Agency informed Azamat Askaruly about the instruments used to support small and medium-sized businesses, including export-oriented ones.

An agreement was reached to consider the possibility of increasing the interaction between QazTrade JSC and the Azerbaijan Agency for the Development of Small and Medium Business.

Meetings were also held with the directorate of Azersun Holding MMC.

Azersun Holding is an Azerbaijani conglomerate operating in the food production, retail and agriculture sectors primarily in Azerbaijan, but also in other countries of the CIS and the Middle East. Azersun is the largest producer and exporter of food products in Azerbaijan (28 food brands are produced), and is also engaged in paper and packaging trade.

During the meeting with Azersun Director General for Agriculture Mohammad Guzal, issues of increasing mutual trade in agricultural and food industry products were discussed.

The parties agreed to exchange requests for the supply of certain goods.

– QazTrade will assist Azersun Holding in search of potential suppliers of the requested goods from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan. We are talking not only about the products of the agro-industrial complex, but also related industries, the products of which are used in the agricultural industry, Askaruly said.

Negotiations were also held with Savash Uzan, Member of the Board of Azersun Holding.

The General Director of JSC “QazTrade” also visited the new Baku port of Alal.

The port of Alat is part of the Baku International Commercial Sea Port. It is located at a distance of 70 km from Baku, at the intersection of the lines of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, TRACECA and the North-South corridor, and is also part of the transport hub connecting the west (Turkey and the EU), the south (Iran and India) and the north (Russia).

The head of the main cargo terminal of the Halal port of Baku, Kamran Jalili, informed Askaruly about the progress of the Port construction project, its transit capacity and technical equipment.  The parties discussed the prospects for increasing the transshipment of Kazakh cargo through this port, as well as optimizing transit time costs.

During the Kazakhstani Trade and Economic Mission in Baku, which took place on June 6-8, 2022, 8 export contracts of agreements were concluded for a total of $38 million.

The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan in January-March 2022 amounted to $99.3 million, which is 4 rubles. higher than in the same period of the previous year (USD 24.8 million). Export from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan in January-March 2022 increased by 3.7 rubles. and amounted to $71.4 million, imports amounted to $27.8 million.
