EU-ITC project “Ready4Trade-Central Asia” develops Kazakhstan’s first Trade Facilitation Portal

Nur-Sultan, 20 May 2021 – The Ready4Trade Central Asia project will gather working group representatives online to discuss the implementation of tasks and coordinate the information for the Trade Facilitation Portal (TFP).

To review the implementation of the Trade Facilitation Portal, a meeting will be held online on Thursday, 20 May 2021 at 15:00 (GMT +6) with the participation of working group, consisting of 23members from 12 representatives of state bodies, organizations, and business associations.

The TFP provides a detailed description of all the steps, documents and forms required for import, export and transit. Since the launch of the documenting of trade procedures in August 2020, TFP currently contains regulations and procedures on export and import of 13 commodity groups in flour, oils, meat, dairy products, medicaments etc. The working group representatives will discuss the possibility of enlarging the range of presented industries, so more businesses will have access to the updated information.

The information documented on portal needs to be certified in order to enhance its credibility and guarantee its accuracy. In this regard, the participants of the meeting will discuss the assistance of the working group representatives in certification process. Moreover, the TFP contributes to the achievement of the goal of trade facilitation of the WTO Trade Facilitation Implementation Plan. It is proposed to introduce the issue of including “Development of a National Portal for Trade Facilitation” paragraph to the mentioned plan.

“The quality development of the Trade Facilitation Portal will assist Kazakhstan to implement key provisions of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement. At the moment, proposed platforms are successfully used in 23 countries, it’s a great tool for enhancing transparency and predictability of trade formalities.” – Jalil Bulatov, National Project Manager of Ready4Trade in Kazakhstan.
