Webinar on Kazakh-Singaporean trade and economic cooperation

On July 7, 2021, General Director of QazTrade JSC A. Askaruly took part in a webinar dedicated to the development of trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Singapore.

The webinar was organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Singapore, together with the Singapore agency Singapore Business Forum. The event started with a welcoming speech of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Singapore to Singapore A. Arystanov. The goal of this event is to form a vision for the further development of cooperation between our countries in the field of ensuring food security.

As a part of his speech, A. Askaruly spoke about the current state of mutual trade between our countries and the potential for increasing non-resource exports of Kazakhstani goods to the Singapore market. Thus, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Singapore in 2020 amounted to $112.3 million, which is 61.4% lower than in the same period of the previous year ($290.6 million). The export potential of Kazakhstani goods to Singapore for 40 commodity items is about $284 million, of which in the food industry for 13 commodity items for $58.7 million.

Continuing his speech, A. Askaruly spoke about the measures of state support for exporters, in particular, the launch of the first Export Acceleration Program and the program to bring Kazakhstani companies to the international electronic trading platform Alibaba.com.

The head of Qaztrade stressed that Kazakhstani products meet all the necessary requirements and international standards and expressed hope that our products will be of interest to Singaporean counterparts.

During the event, food manufacturers also spoke about their capabilities: Kusto Agro LLP, Ordabasy Kus LLP, Sun Bee LLP, Madlen LLP, Integration-Turgen LLP and Aleksandrovsky Sad LLP.
